Overall, crime is down from last year?s statistics, but burglary is up in La Cañada Flintridge, according to information provided by Crescenta Valley Sheriff?s Capt. Dave Silversparre during Tuesday night?s meeting of the City Council. As in past reports from local law enforcement, Silversparre reinforced what is becoming a too-often ignored theme: lock your house and car doors and don?t leave valuable items visible in vacant vehicles. ?Try not to be a victim,? Silversparre said, adding that the increase in property crimes has led to his department adding extra patrols, both uniform and undercover, and working with other agencies in surrounding areas.
