I’ve been enjoying the last couple of days of sunshine. Saturday was certainly a gray day with such a fine mist falling, getting me ready for Ireland, I suppose. Sunday seemed to be the perfect day for the Los Angeles Marathon. I’m sure that there were a fair amount of valleyites that participated. Last Monday morning I spoke with Mary Pinola and she walked the route in less than seven hours — her personal best. She said that she had only a couple of blisters on her toes at the end — her badge of courage.

Lynn Duvall While I loyally patronize most of our local restaurants, once in a while I like to venture outside the Foothill communities to try something new. Remember Patty, Maxine and LaVerne, belting out hits like Bie Mir Bist du Schoen, Hold Tight, and Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree, to the beat of the big band in the glory days of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman? The Sisters of Swing, Stephanie Krystad, Teresa Parente and Ember Vaughan, will present "It’s a Spring Swing in the Ballroom" on Sunday, April 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Lanterman House Ballroom. Continuing a series of Sunday musicals inspired by the sheet music collection of the late Frank Lanterman, the Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation moves from the Roarin’ Twenties to the Swingin’ Forties to present a foot-tapping evening of music.
