Les Tupper recipients named The La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council announced the recipients of the 2008 Les Tupper Community Service Awards. Merrily Hake and Clyde Hemphill will receive individual awards; La Cañada High School senior Regina Saavedra will receive the Student Service Award; the organization award will go to the La Cañada Flintridge Trails Council ; and John Olsen , founder of Brothers’ Helpers, will be recognized with a Special Award.

The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) will honor Disney for its legacy of support for animals and conservation at the 36th Annual Beastly Ball on Saturday, June 17, at 6 p.m. The Beastly Ball is GLAZA's annual major fundraising event with proceeds going toward the development of exhibits, conservation, programming, education programs, research and other programs for the city-owned Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Held under the stars at the Los Angeles Zoo, the Beastly Ball will be co-chaired by Emmy-award winning actress Betty White and Lori Winters Samuels, both long-time GLAZA trustees.
