Wagner College, with the help of St. Francis High graduate Matt Abbey, raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back as it went on to a 34-0 victory at home last Saturday. Wagner, located in Staten Island. N.Y., remains undefeated and improves to 4-0 for the first time since 1995. The Seahawks produced a season high 513 yards of total offense, while the defense pitched the first shutout at Wagner College stadium since a 29-0 win over Robert Morris in 2002. Sophomore quarterback Matt Abbey, a resident of La Cañada Flintridge, completed 12 of 20 attempts for 211 yards.

La Cañada Flintridge resident and St. Francis High graduate John Sciarra led Wagner College to it second victory in a row last Saturday. The Seahawks defeated the Marist Red Foxes 28-13 as Sciarra, who was on the UCLA team for two years, scored his first touchdown for Wagner during the game's opening drive. The junior signal caller hit pay dirt on a two-yard plunge to give Wagner a 6-0 lead. Sciarra completed 12 of 24 passes for 126 yards. He tossed receptions to seven different receivers including junior Mike Malik who caught a 25-yard TD pass from Sciarra.

La Cañada Flintridge resident John Sciarra finished out his college football career by setting several passing records in his last two games at Wagner College. In Wagner's final contest of the season last Saturday, Sciarra, a graduate of St. Francis High, completed 19 of 39 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns to lead his team to a 23-21 victory over visiting St. Francis University. Sciarra, who played on the UCLA team for two seasons, set a new school single season record for TD passes with 26. He tossed a 27-yard TD pass to Chris Turner and a 16-yard TD reception to Shaun Grover.

John Sciarra, a St. Francis High graduate who spent the last two years at UCLA, is now a quarterback for Wagner College in Staten Isand, N.Y. In his first game for the eastern school last Saturday, the La Cañada Flintridge resident set a new school record by completing 29 passes against La Salle. His team, the Seahawks, defeated the Explorers, 35-28, for their third consecutive season opener against La Salle. Sciarra, a junior, was 29 for 38 in completions for 333 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Matt Abby, a St. Francis High graduate, threw the game-winning touchdown in Wagner College's 7-3 Homecoming victory over Iona last Saturday in Staten Island, N.Y. As the Seahawks got off to 2-0 start for the fifth straight year, senior wide receiver Chris Turner caught the decisive TD at the start of the fourth quarter. He pulled down a nine-yard TD pass in the back of the end zone on a jump ball from sophomore QB Matt Abbey with 12:04 remaining in the contest. Earlier in the game-winning drive, Abbey connected with running back Jason Butler on a 42-yard screen pass on third and 10. Abbey completed 15 of 30 attempts for 151 yards, one TD and one interception.
