Someone should tell the Spartans there are easier ways to win games. Only 24 seconds left, Fillmore had the ball, down by a point, 56-55. On the inbound pass, Fillmore put up a good shot that hit off the rim and bounced into the hands of La Cañada’s Courtney McCutchan, who passed it to Tia Chen, and the Spartans girls’ basketball team walked away with the victory, 57-55. The win, along with victories over La Salle and Flintridge Sacred Heart, got the Spartans (11-2)

Letters to the Editor Save Chickens From Global Warming Our city has recently become embroiled in a topic that has far-reaching consequences. It is currently dividing our town into hen haters and hen lovers. Should chickens be allowed to stay in our fair city? This is certainly an important issue that demands our full attention. The pro-chicken supporters contend that keeping chickens have many positive attributes. They make good pets, add to the pastoral feel of our city, and are just so darn cute.

Q. As you look back on 2010, what most affected you spiritually and challenged your belief system? And how will that impact you as you confront 2011?   At this time of year, we often are inspired to make New Year's resolutions. And, in this age when there are many in our society and our world who seem to be pointing to divisions among people of various religious faiths, I believe that the most important resolutions we can make as individuals and members of religious groups are to look for the ways in which we are alike, rather than the ways in which we are different.
