One hundred and sixty-eight young men graduated May 24 from St. Francis High School in La Cañada. Rev. Antonio Marti, the Provincial of the Western American Province of the Capuchin Franciscan Order, represented Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop of Los Angeles, at the graduation. D. Allen Lund, chairman of the board of directors; Rev. Matthew Elshoff, school president; and Thomas Moran, school principal, also officiated at the 59th commencement ceremony of the local Catholic college-preparatory institution.

From Kendrew Morales Abueg to Christopher Gregory Zuzow, 162 students graduated Saturday morning from St. Francis High School in La Cañada. Hundreds of family members and friends gathered around the statue of St. Francis of Assisi to watch their sons, brothers, nephews and friends take the big step. "Thank you for coming to the conclusion of our journey through high school and witnessing our first step into our bright future," senior class president Michael Picardal said in his welcome speech.

Thomas Moran has been the principal at St. Francis High School in La Cañada for the last 18 years. Still, he can't help but get excited when the new school year arrives. "The last couple days [before school starts] are quiet, kind of like the calm before the storm," Moran said. "It's energizing to have more people here, especially when the students come back. " St. Francis, founded by the Capuchin Franciscan Friars in 1946, began classes Thursday for the 2010-11 school year looking to carry on a 64-year tradition.

Antonio Marti, OFM Cap, the Provincial of the Western American Province of the Capuchin Franciscan Order, represented his Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles at the graduation. Fr. Matthew Elshoff, OFM Cap, the school president, and Mr. Thomas Moran, the school principal, also officiated at the 57th commencement ceremony of the local Catholic, college-preparatory institution.

Pomp and Circumstance played as 145 Golden Knights, clad in brown robes and caps, walked to Senior Lawn for the 56th annual commencement exercises held at Saint Francis High School last Saturday morning for the class of 2005. Fr. Antonio Marti, O.F.M.Cap., the Provincial of the Western American Province of the Capuchin Franciscan Order, represented his Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles at the graduation. Fr. The residential streets surrounding St. Francis High School were lined Saturday morning with cars showcasing messages including “Congratulations” and “2011 SFHS graduate.” Hundreds of family members and friends gathered in the courtyard of the Catholic high school to watch 166 young men graduate as members of the class of 2011 in a 10 a.m. ceremony. The school’s president, Father Antonio Marti, OFM Capuchin, led the invocation, and senior class president Paolo Gutierrez Veneracion welcomed the crowd with a short speech before awards and diplomas were handed out. Ethan Julian Liwanag was honored as class valedictorian, and Eugene Choi and Theodore J. Williams shared the honor of salutatorians.
