Over the weekend, the American Ballet Theatre performed ?Swan Lake? at the Dorothy Chandler Music Center. The classic story of a tragic love played out in four acts. The ballet was a little uneven; when it was bad it was slow, but when it was good it was very good. Michelle Wiles performed in the roles of Odette-Odile, the Swan Princess. Proving that evil is more fun than good, Wiles was wonderfully wicked portraying Odile, the daughter of sorcerer Von Rothbart. Highlights were any time Sascha Radetsky, as the prince?

Taking a fresh new look at the traditional holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, Le Studio Dance of Pasadena will present Clara's Dream at Sexson Auditorium of Pasadena City College. Clara's Dream is choreographed by former Bolshoi Theatre choreographer Alexei Badrak, who is now Artistic Director of Le Studio Dance. Badrak was assistant to the Bolshoi Theatre's Chief Ballet Master Yuri Grigorovich from 1987 to 1989. Since his move to the United States in 1993, Badrak founded the International Ballet Theater Institute, serving as producer, director, choreographer, ballet master, coach, instructor, academic and lecturer.

Hey weatherman, keep those foggy June Gloom mornings coming — I love them. And you can even stretch them on into July. That would be very nice. These past few cool mornings turned out to be impetus for me to wage war on the paper clutter in my office. It was a major assault on my part that took me a couple of days to beat the scores of errant papers into submission. Piece by piece I evaluated what could be thrown away, what needed a new file folder and what was destined for the guillotine (the shredder)

The California Philharmonic Orchestra, with four different series of concerts at four different venues, has experienced a heavy load of orders for the Ambassador Series. The Ambassador Series will be a season of classical concerts presented at the newly reopened and renovated Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. Eight performances, scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights from February through May will feature instrumental, vocal and dance soloists in fourdifferent programs of classical and pops favorites.

Company takes to the stage poised with William Shakespears "A Midsummer Night's Dream," plus two original performances. Pasadena Dance Theatre, one of Southern California's premiere ballet companies, will celebrate its 10th performance season April 8 to April 10 as it returns to the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium, 320 S. Mission Drive in San Gabriel, for its spring series. The program includes four performances of the illustrious masterpiece "A Midsummer Night's Dream" as well as "Threads," a new ballet choreographed by the renowned Leslie Carothers, formerly of the Joffrey Ballet, and "Mobile," choreographed and staged by Pasadena natives Tomm Rund and Christopher Ruud, respectively.
