It is with mixed emotions that YMCA of the Foothills CEO Larry Hall will move his family to the Seattle area in the next few weeks, he said in an interview shortly after announcing his retirement last Thursday. ?There are a lot of giving people in these communities. Working with so many great leaders in the community has been a great experience I won?t forget,? Hall said. Hall was honored at a retirement luncheon last week and gathered again Monday afternoon with a group of friends, co-workers and family members at the Crescenta-Cañada Y for a less formal retirement party.

The benefits of massage took on a new dimension this month as La Cañada massage therapist Susan Young found a way to make her healing hands help a family on the other side of the globe. In an effort to share some of her financial blessings with those in need, Young decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from her therapy sessions to the purchase of a cow for a family in Rwanda. Young said she decided to purchase the cow for Costazia Mahigigi and her family in an effort to not only benefit the family, but in order to inspire others in her own community to think of others as the holiday season approaches.
