Banners will soon be flying at La Cañada High School recognizing the success of the school?s proud sports history. ?We used to have banners that were 4 feet by 8 feet, made of satin that Coach Jim Harvey had,? said Randy Boal, recently retired athletic director of the school. The satin banners were taken down the last time the gym was painted. ?We didn?t realize how really dirty they were,? Boal said. He had them dry cleaned but after looking at the gym?s fresh paint and new graphics it was decided to acquire new banners.

Tera Zotovich wed Benjamin Alford were wed June 16 at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. The garden ceremony was followed by a reception in a red barn at Strawberry Farms. Tera, a 1994 graduate of La Cañada High School, is the daughter of Carol and John Goddard of La Cañada Flintridge, and Kathi and Peter Zotovich of Los Osos, Calif. Ben is the son of Margaret and Richard Alford of Alton, Ill. He is a 1995 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton. The bride appeared in a full-length strapless ivory satin couture gown.

Shari Tores and Suzanne Paine , real estate agents associated with MacGregor Realty, looked like top models as they walked down the runway at the WCR (Women's Council of Realtors) Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show held recently at the Glendale Hilton. Hundreds of realtors and affiliates attended the luncheon where the annual fashion show is considered the "big event." "This event is always a fun time with fellow realtors. Everyone seems to enjoy it and the food was great.

Mary and Leonard Kenney of La Cañada Flintridge have announced the recent marriage of their son, Philip Kenney, a 2001 graduate of La Cañada High School, to his college sweetheart, Ella Smith. The wedding took place at Ella's relatives' house in her hometown of Olympia, Wash., in an outdoor ceremony overlooking Puget Sound. Despite fears that rain showers, so common in the Pacific Northwest, would spoil the event, the July 3 date proved prophetic and the outline of Mount Rainier, visible across the cloudless sky, provided the backdrop.

Educational and public programs offered throughout the year at Descanso Gardens received a boost Saturday night when nearly 200 supporters from La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, San Marino and other Southland communities donned black-tie apparel for an evening of dinner and dancing at the botanical showplace. “Our education mission is largely supported by the annual benefit and we are so thankful for our steadfast supporters,” stated David R. Brown, executive director of Descanso Gardens, in a news release issued by the Gardens.
