Rose Queen and Court greet cancer patients The 2010 Tournament of Roses Royal Court got the royal treatment at USC Norris Cancer Hospital Dec. 8 during a visit. The nearly four-hour visit began with a welcome from Peter Jones, director of the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Annette Sy, associate administrator for USC Norris Cancer Hospital, and Mitch Creem, chief executive officer of the hospital. “It’s wonderful that you do this,” said Creem, adding that the girls’ visit was inspirational for patients.

To not forget about what a Realtor's job is, the Handy Group of Dilbeck provided a first-time house buyer with red carpet treatment. Buyer Erik Ovanespour fell in love with the house at 749 Danny Street. The Handy Group beat out multiple offers to get it for him. In this day of many Realtors just looking to cash their commission checks and tossing the keys to the new owner, the Handy Group wanted to do something special for Erik. They rolled out the red carpet for him, lighting the way to his first home with tiki-torches and including a special ribbon cutting ceremony to usher in this new chapter in his life.

A sea of white hair covered the campus at Crestview Preparatory School last Friday. Kindergartners to sixth graders, teachers and parents all donned white wigs in a creative salute to Marge Hanna, the head of the school. Hanna is retiring as head of the school after 21 years, said Alex Kopelevich, the school's business manager. In a surprise ceremony for Hanna, who is easily recognizable by her pure white hair, everyone at the school wore brilliant white wigs as they greeted her entrance into the school's courtyard.

Who wouldn't want to be the center of attention among crowds of people? How about walk around with your own chaperon and spend most of your time in a mansion? Free makeup? How about free pearls? What sounds like royal treatment and a dream come true for some teenage girls is what two La Cañada Flintridge Preparatory High School girls have been living since taking their positions as royal court princesses for the 2006 Tournament of Roses Association. "It's every little girl's dream to become a princess, and I know growing up I came to many parades and watched it religiously," said Rachel Geragos, one of two 17-year-old Flintridge Prep seniors chosen as Rose Court princesses.
