Armenians from the La Crescenta and La Cañada area gathered in Lanterman Auditorium (which serves as the site of the Armenian Apostolic Church every Sunday) on Easter Sunday to celebrate the glorious resurrection of Christ. The service commenced at 10:30 a.m. and ended at 1:30 p.m. and was led by Archpriest Hovsep Hagopian. He also led a special prayer at the end of the service blessing the four corners of the Earth. After his sermon, the archpriest read Archbishop Hovnan Derderian?

St. George’s Episcopal Church ‘The Wilderness Experience’ As the faithful continue the Lenten journey and move closer to the resurrection of Easter, one might be noticing some changes from within through one’s own personal “Wilderness Experience.” Join the community to listen and meditate on Jesus’ transformation at the culmination of his time of temptation in the desert. During the quiet time following the Lectio, a labyrinth will be available for meditative walks.

The Armenian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, called "Zadig," will be the sermon topic of Fr. Hosep Hagopian at the 10:30 a.m. service on April 16 at the Armenian Apostolic Church of La Cañada. The congregation meets at the Lanterman Auditorium, 4491 Cornishon Ave., La Cañada. What is the meaning of Zadig, or Easter? Even though there is no valid explanation, it probably means holiday or celebration. Armenians call Christmas "Minor Easter," and the Resurrection of Christ "Major Easter."

Pastor Bruce Johnson will lead the worship services on Easter Sunday, April 16, beginning with a service, "Celebration of Life," to be held at 7 30 a.m. in the courtyard at Lutheran Church in the Foothills, 1700 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada. This will be followed by an Easter brunch from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for the children will follow. At 10 a.m. Pastor Johnson will deliver the sermon, "A Celebration of the Resurrection" in the sanctuary. On Good Friday at 7 p.m. there will be a worship service on the topic "Father, Into Your Hands I Commend My Spirit," based on Luke 23:46.

This Sundayis New Sunday and will be sermon topic of Fr. Hosep Hagopian at the 10:30 a.m. service at the Armenian Apostolic Church of La Cañada. The congregation meets at the Lanterman Auditorium, 4491 Cornishon Ave., La Cañada. Fr. Hagopian will discuss how the Apostle Thomas had not seen Christ on the day of resurrection or the days following and did not believe even when he appeared to the apostles. When Thomas sees Jesus, he wants to verify his wounds and then he believes.

La Crescenta First Baptist Church will host a Passover Seder on April 13 at the church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave. It will include a dinner to be served and supervised by Kevin and Janine Kohult. This event is open to all, but the church requests that reservations be made by calling the church office. A Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on April 14 will include drama, multi-media and music entitled "The Hill." The Easter morning worship service and celebration of the resurrection with a theme "The Victory" will be at the usual worship time of 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Rick Derbyshire giving the sermon.

All are welcome to Easter Services on April 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 1830 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada. The La Canada 1st Ward 9 a.m. service is under the direction of Bishop David Garrett. As occurs each Sabbath, the ordinance of the sacrament will be administered. Bishop Garrett has invited David Blasucci and Jeanne Broberg to speak on the crucifixion, resurrection and atonement of Jesus Christ. Broberg will include Easter experiences she and her husband, Dr. Charles Broberg, had on the three Easters they recently spent in Eastern Europe.
