St. George?s Episcopal Church ?Where Would You Stand in the Stable?? Join St. George?s from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 21 as it gathers in community to share in scripture and silence as the Advent season approaches. As we move toward the Season of Advent, we will listen to the events of Jesus? birth through the eyes of Joseph. We will watch him as he unassumingly takes his place in the stable and wonder where we would be in that scene. During the quiet time following the Lectio, a labyrinth will be available for meditative walks.

Mike Donaghy is a La Cañada Flintridge native and St. Francis High School graduate who in April celebrated the 20th anniversary of his health and fitness business, the Training Center. Donaghy answered questions from the La Cañada Valley Sun via email. Sun: What inspired you to get into the physical fitness business? Donaghy: I've always worked out on a regular basis since age 13. With the determination to improve myself, combined with a business background, I jumped at the opportunity to open my first gym at age 21. I started my first business, auto detailing, at age 16, and did that until I graduated from St. Francis.

Unfortunately, trees are expensive, messy and look sadly naked without a gazillion presents underneath. Gift giving, of course, reflects the gifts of the Three Wise Men who visited baby Jesus in a stable.

She told the audience that planning meals and errands were two ways to save money and time.

Do you ever have the feeling that you would just rather be alone? Sometimes we have a desire to isolate ourselves. It may be due to a busy schedule, stress, deep pain that seems to be better off resolved on our own, or even sin. There are definitely times when it is better to have some quiet time. It may be that we need to relax from overly busy schedules that have depleted our energies, making it difficult to represent Christ with our lives. During such seasons, it is imperative that we refuel through self-care and time with God. Often, our best times of recouping are when we are alone.
