The newest way to enjoy California's scenic Central Coast is to go a step beyond the cozy and comfortable accommodations found all along Pismo Beach and enjoy the ocean view from a hotel unit you might be well satisfied to call your permanent residence. In fact, several of the accommodations at the new Dolphin Bay Hotel and Residences will be homes for permanent residents. The hotel adds an exclamation mark to an area already known for some of the most appealing condos and hotels in California.

?Ode to Joy? party held Sunday More than 150 friends gathered Sunday at the Flintridge home of Sherry and David Kirchheimer to bid farewell to Joy Gifford , La Cañada?s beloved teacher, volunteer, activist and friend of 50 years, who recently moved to Pismo Beach to be near family. Gifford is a former La Cañadan of the Year and a retired Paradise Canyon Elementary School kindergarten teacher. Friends exchanged reminiscences with the guest of honor, penned well-wishes on a farewell poster card and admired photos of Gifford?

The California coastline is a mecca for all of those land-locked Midwesterners who have to settle for lakes and rivers when, everyone knows, there is no substitute for the vast Pacific Ocean and the charming coves and seaside communities so abundant on the West Coast. California has a few seaside vacation destinations that we would rank as some of the best getaways anywhere, each with its own unique character. While some may have better beaches, others have a certain feel that sets them apart.

While Christmas week is always busy at the best resorts and lodgings throughout California, many people are not aware that it?s possible to get bargain rates right up until Christmas and immediately after New Year?s. A little pre-planning can save you hundreds of dollars and still give you a winter holiday just when you?re needing a break from Christmas shopping and all the frazzled nerves that sometimes just go with the season. A number of lodgings currently have limited offers that range from you-gotta-act-now-or-you-lose-it deals to specials that run for the next few months.
