Ruth Deborah Barber Ruth Deborah Barber is the daughter of Doctors Donald and Barbara Barber, and the granddaughter of Mary Barber and the late Dr. Donald Barber, and the late Zoltan and Eva Batyka. She is a senior at La Cañada High School. Ruth is a National Merit Semi-Finalist and a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholastic Federation. She has been involved in her school band and choral programs for the past four years. She is currently co-president of the band and section leader of the pit. Ruth is alto section leader for the Chamber Singers, president of the film club, and has participated in the mock trial team for three years.

Dean?s List with distinction for local DeDe Mann , a 2009 graduate of La Cañada High School, has been awarded the Dean?s List with Distinction honor (GPA of 3.925 and above) for the Fall 2009 semester at Duke University in Durham, N.C. This honor places Mann in the top 7% of the freshman class in the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences and in the top 10% of all undergraduate students. Mann is a member of the marching band, pep band, Chi Omega sorority, Alpha Phi Omega co-ed community service fraternity and Women?

Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic is having its 58th Annual Scholarship Benefit Luncheon at The Oakmont Country Club in Glendale on Saturday, April 1. Proceeds will provide scholarships for high school seniors attending a four-year college and for active collegiate members of NPC sororities from the Glendale, Burbank, La Crescenta, La Cañada and Verdugo Hills areas. The theme is "Spring Into Fashion," featuring fashions from J Jill of the Glendale Galleria. Models will be representatives from the member sorority alumnae organizations.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nickoloff of La Cañada Flintridge announced the engagement of their son, Nicholas Nickoloff, to Krystal Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jed Brown of Omaha, Neb. Nicholas is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boccalero, also of La Cañada Flintridge. The groom graduated from La Cañada High School in 1999. He attended the University of Southern California, where he graduated in 2003 with a bachelor of science degree from the Leventhal School of Accounting.

Scott and Mary Tracy recently hosted a family dinner party at their home in La Cañada Flintridge to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay Robin Tracy, to Christopher Daniel Hall, son of Danny and Ginger Hall of Sunnyvale. The couple met in 2004 as youth counselors during a missions trip to Germany. The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of La Cañada High School where she was senior class president. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and a teacher's credential from Yale University.

Britta Tracy and Reece Schort were married on Oct. 10 at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. Rev. Danny Hall, father-in-law of the bride’s sister, performed the ceremony. The pre-sunset double-ring ceremony on the sand overlooking the Pacific Ocean was followed by a cocktail reception on the beach patio and a dinner dance in the club’s Catalina Room. The bride was attended to by her sister, Lindsay Tracy Hall, matron of honor, and bridesmaids Chiara Shannon Henna, Christine Sousa Saghatelian, Lauren Miller, Laurel Pinson, Melissa DePetris and Kate Pelet.

The Renaissance Academy boys' varsity basketball team broke up a close game against visiting Tujunga Skyward Christian on Tuesday night and went on to win 72-54 in the CIF Southern Section Division V-A quarterfinals. The Wildcats, who won the American league with an 8-0 mark, upped their overall record to 22-4. Skyward Christian, which tied for second in the Omega League, finished 21-5 overall. Renaissance Academy will face Palm Springs Desert Chapel in a semifinal away contest tomorrow (Friday)
