Joselito's topped Roundtree, 11-5, to finish the year in first place in the Crescenta Valley Little League. Joselitos only lost one league game and district contest all year. The team was led by the great pitching of Hailey Cookson, Olivia Thayer, Kendall Heurkins and Selina Mohr. The big bat of Tiffany Brisco helped the team capture the top spot. Allyne Myere, Emily Lockwood, Erika Johnson and Nicole Johnson were the heart and soul of this great team. Kendall Jones, Syndey Potrykus and Marrisa Coranado all helped to make this season as successful as it was.

Joselitos defeated Paper Rabbit, 7-5, in Crescenta Valley Little League Minor Division play last week. Hailey Cookson, starting pitcher for Joselitos, pitched three innings. She struck out nine batters while giving up no hits and no runs. Cookson was relieved by Selina Mohr who hurled two innings. She struck out five and gave up one hit to Paper Rabbit's Amanda Mcnamee. Olivia Thayer finished the game for Joselitos, pitching the last inning. Gabbie Lavarro and Danielle Lynch both pitched a great game for the Rabbits Tiffany Briscoe, Natalie Casey and Kedall Heurkins did a great job hitting and fielding for Joselitos Allyne Meyer, Emily Lockwood, Erika Johnson, Kendell Jones, Marissa Coronado, Nicole Johnson, Sydney Potrykus helped seal the victory for Joselitos.

The first weekend of spring just whizzed by. With the heavy early morning cloud cover, the weather people commented that we were experiencing either June gloom or May gray. Absolutely nobody mentioned April showers. Our parched earth would have welcomed that forecast. Yes, water conservation is ever present in my mind. I have reluctantly given up my long hot showers - I'm singing short songs these days. --- The spring social season is in full swing and love is also in the air. The Valley Sun got a note from Debbie Bacino saying that she will be married in April.

GIRLS' GOLF Westridge 205, Mayfield 308: It was a record-setting day for the Tigers, as Jackie Pai tied the school-record score of one-over-par 36 and led an overall school-record team score in Thursday's Montview League match at Altadena Golf Course. Gabby Chan carded a 41, Allegra Gutierrez shot a 43, Rachel Fishman shot a 45 and Sarah Jane Stephens shot a 50 for Westridge (9-2, 7-2 in league). Pai tied the team record matched earlier this year by Niamh James and originally set in 2008 by Sachiye Daye.

Seventeen young women will be presented to society on Saturday when the La Cañada Thursday Club holds its annual Bal Blanc de Noel at the Omni Hotel in Los Angeles. The honorees are Tracey Hill Andrews, Galey Kathryn Caverly, Jessica Anne Davidson, Laura Jane Emmons, Brenna Katherine Gay, Adelle Anne Higley, Haley Nicole Johnson, Madison Rose Johnson, Alessandra Theresa Koeppen, Charlotte Ann Robertson Leddie, Madelyn Louise Merchant, Margaret Ann Morton, Annette Marie Persson, Shannon Cleo Ritter, Lauren Drew Skarupa, and Grace Marie Vallen.
