La Cañada residents may have seen a large group of happy, healthy kids and family members running down the streets near Paradise Canyon Elementary on Saturday. They ran a 5K or a mile race. Many of participants ran both — that was just the warm up for a day of medieval fun. On Saturday, the PCY Annual Medieval Faire had a variety of games like Chivalrous Shooting, Feudal Fishing and Crusading Cars. The event was a fundraiser for the school. The race kicked the day of festivities off, with Erick Lankey coming in first for both the 5K and the mile race.

It is the hottest fund-raising event in La Cañada, and it's right around the corner! The annual LCFEF Gala is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. It is sold out, with 705 people from La Cañada ready to mingle, dance, and raise money for the best cause in our community -- our schools! This year, four lads with mop top haircuts and thin black ties will be rocking the Gala, providing a rollercoaster ride of classic Beatles hits, "Love Me Do" to "Let It Be."

Aloha! There's a tropical breeze floating over from the South Seas, making its way to the Palm Crest playground…. Do you hear the plink-plink of an ukulele? Do you hear the bamboo rustling? Do you think perhaps you're going nuts — or is it just the macadamias? It's Springamajig, and it's going Tiki- Tiki. On Saturday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Palm Crest Playground will become a Tiki village filled with sarongs and savages — also known as "our children."

If anything can be said about La Cañada High School's graduating class of 2013, it's that they are utterly unafraid to let their light shine and, in doing so, make the world a brighter place. Graduates were a sight to behold Thursday evening as they streamed enthusiastically onto the field of Spartan Stadium. The tops of their maroon and gold mortar boards were decorated with signs, symbols and pictures hinting at next steps - logos of colleges near and abroad (Vassar, Emory, Brigham Young, UCLA and UC Davis to name a few)

Friends and families packed their snacks, portable chairs and covered every inch of turf available at La Cañada Flintridge Memorial Park and visited other venues to enjoy last weekend's 'Fiesta Days' festivities. Softball games held Friday evening at La Cañada High were the introductory events for the celebration, presented primarily by the LCF Chamber of Commerce and Community Association. Other organizations sponsored complementary events throughout the weekend. A crowd that turned out in Memorial Park Saturday evening was specially pleased and mesmerized with the first Korean Cultural Celebration held in conjunction with Fiesta Days.
