Although 76 trombones will not be leading the parade, over 100 youth and adults from the Foothills and Glendale area of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be on stage performing Meredith Willson?s, ?The Music Man.?Four performances by two casts will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 24-26 at 7 p.m. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. The shows are free to the public and will take place at the LDS Church on 4550 Raymond Ave. in La Crescenta, located behind the Ralphs shopping plaza.

When the curtain rises tonight on La Cañada High School's opening night production of "The Music Man," it is 1912 and a group of salesmen aboard a train are lamenting the duplicitous character of Professor Harold Hill. This is River City, Iowa, onstage in La Cañada where vibrant energy envelops audience members as the no-good con artist Hill arrives selling band instruments and promises to teach the town's children to play them - even though it's rumored he can't read a note.
