Disney?s classic film ?Sleeping Beauty? is playing for a limited time on the big screen only at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. The Aug. 28 opening night screening hosted a panel discussion featuring animators, Imagineers and the voice of ?Sleeping Beauty,? Mary Costa. The film has been remastered with enhanced picture and sound. Any dirt specks or fingerprints on the frame when it was photographed have been removed for a crystal clear picture. And best of all, the shot has been widened to get the full scope of the frame, whereas the original print was cropped to cover smudges from fingerprints left moving the pictures in and out of the camera view.

Three internationally-acclaimed opera stars ? Marilyn Horne, Mary Costa and Heinz Blankenburg ? whose careers were launched by the Guild Opera Company of Los Angeles, will be honored at the company?s 60th anniversary on June 20 at the Autry National Center of the American West. The company is searching for other singers who have sung in Guild Opera productions in venues from the Shrine Auditorium to the Glendale Concert Auditorium. Since 1949, more than four million students have been introduced to opera through full-scale productions and the Guild?

Guild Opera 60th anniversary The Guild Opera will be celebrating 60 years of introducing young audiences to opera on June 20 at the Autry National Center of the American West with the help of three internationally acclaimed opera stars ? Marilyn Horne, Mary Costa and Heinz Blankenburg . These are just three of the many Southern California singers who made their operatic debut with the Company singing before thousands of school children at the Shrine Auditorium. Co-chairs Joanne Horme and Fran Benedict , both Glendale residents, have been searching for former company singers and found Grace-Lyime Martin Ingle living in La Crescenta.
