My goodness, we did have quite the downpour of rain in the past 10 days or so. All of us are grateful that there were not major mudslides in what is the Station fire burn area. As for me, a former Seattle resident, I felt quite at home. I just got cozy in front of the fireplace with my knitting and good books to read. I was quite contented. With umbrellas tucked under their arms, but thankfully not needed, nearly 600 people gathered to take a first peek at the 1930 mansion that will be this year’s Pasadena Showcase House of Design presented by the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA)

Despite objections from neighboring residents, the La Cañada Flintridge Planning Commission on Tuesday approved a new 8,032-square-foot house at 5180 Princess Anne Road. The unusual configuration of the lot screens the property from the street, city planner Chris Gjolme said in his report. “In general the site has a somewhat isolated and secluded character, a product of its location at the far end of a quiet residential street and the visual buffering afforded by the mature trees in the front,” Gjolme told the commissioners.
