Independence Day — 4th of July. Though the American geographic, political, economic, psychological and sociological landscape has greatly changed since 1776, one thing has remained the same: the great American metaphor of the open road. Back then, dirt roads were grooved with wagon wheels driven by pioneers; now our asphalt byways and highways take us to nearby cities within minutes to our destination. Whatever our pursuits, our American open road still represents freedom, mobility, destiny, conquest, passion, independence and opportunity.
