The holiday shopping season is here. People all over the country are buying gifts, making travels plans and preparing for the new year. How can we stay alert and watch for the Lord amid the busyness of the holidays? It’s not only a busy time of year, it’s also, and more appropriately, a joyous time, and it’s helpful to consider what that means. In this Christmas season, we celebrate and share the hope, love, benevolence, and saving practicality that Christ Jesus brought to mankind.

Jan. 24, 1962 - July 10, 2005 Within a Christian home full of love and joy, Kathy Ster's soul has been lifted to the heavens, leaving behind a loving and caring family. Kathy, 43, passed away peacefully in her home in Leawood, Kan., surrounded by her loving family on the morning of Sunday, July 10. Services were held in Leawood on Wednesday. Kathy Ann Larsen was born Jan. 24, 1962 in Glendale. She was a product of Dunsmore Elementary School, Clark Junior High and Crescenta Valley High School.

The past couple of weeks, I've been giving myself a doggone headache trying to intellectualize the phenomenology of "Christmas," and "Believing." It ain't easy; especially when you have to think. Quoting one of my Brownie Scouts from troop 889, "What the heck!" Enough is enough; I'm going back to the basics. You know, Vince Lombardi - the fundamentals. So, when the world becomes a bit too esoteric, I fondly remember Mrs. Venola, (Mrs. V). She just knew about things. I lived in her guest house in La Crescenta, but little did I know she was the Christmas Angel that we seek.
