Q. Can you recommend some things to do over the holidays that are free or low cost? On Christmas Eve from 3 to 9 p.m. visit the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center to enjoy choirs, music ensembles, and dance companies representing the diversity of cultures across Southern California. The entire six hours is simulcast live on KCET public television. The event is free and people come and go throughout the six hours. Try outdoor ice skating at LA’s Downtown on Ice. The public ice rink fills a good part of Pershing Square across from the Biltmore Hotel.
