City Spaces, Inc., the Los Angeles commercial interior design firm headquartered in Pasadena, raised $13,790 for the Harambee Center at its annual Casino Night in October. "We may be just a mid-size firm, but we're making a big difference in our local community," said Christie Skinner, A.S.I.D., president and founder of City Spaces, Inc. "Since 1997, we've single-handedly raised $215,000 for children's causes." "This significant gift from City Spaces will have a big impact on the afterschool, summer and teen programs we can offer for African American and Latino children and youth and their families in northwest Pasadena," said Rudolpho Carrasco, Harambee Center's executive director.

Cynthia Bennett and Associates, Inc. has reopened its full service interior design division. The company, originally established in 1981 as a Kitchen Design specialty firm, has been designing and building beautiful and functional kitchens, baths and additions -- all areas of residential design including custom homes, for 25 years. Two La Cañada Flintridge residences are among six homes among the foothills area with state-of-the-art kitchens that go on public display for one day ? Sunday, Oct. 7 ? during the 21st Annual Pasadena ASID Home & Kitchen Tour. The La Cañada homes featured include the restoration and remodel of a 1958 mid-century modern home on Hampstead Road, designed by Kristina Urbanas Spencer. The other is an update of a 1940s-style English cottage designed by Sherry Stein. ?Kitchens are highlighted because the kitchen is usually the first room a homeowner wants to remodel,?

Mrs. and Mrs. Michael Davis of La Cañada Flintridge are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay Marie Davis, to Douglas Paul Reid. Doug and Lindsay met while working on the Tonight Show as part of the page program at NBC, and have been engaged since Christmas 2007. Lindsay is a 2000 graduate of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada. She received her bachelor?s degree in broadcast journalism in 2004 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

To infinity and beyond, contemporary to the Spanish roots of California Mission-style architecture, visitors to the 22nd ASID Home & Kitchen Tour will experience excellence in home design on Sunday, Oct. 5. Six homes, in Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino and Glendale will be open for visitors in a self-guided tour format from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the interior designers in attendance to answer questions. Not only will home tour visitors have an opportunity to see the newest and best in interior and garden design but they can shop for treasures in boutiques placed in the backyard of one of the homes.

Ed and Ellie Fox of La Cañada Flintridge announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Ann, to Oswaldo Jose Busquets Gaulin. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo where she majored in interior design and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Heather is employed as an interior designer for Richmond American Homes in Northridge. Her fiance is the son of Oswaldo Ramon and Maria Elena Busquets of Caracas, Venezuela.

Nicholas John Penido and Holly Lynn Eiserman will be married in Mesa, Arizona on June 1, it was announced this week. Nick, a 2000 graduate of La Cañada High, is the son of Carol and Tony Penido of La Cañada Flintridge. He has a borther, Blake and a sister, Christina. The bride-to-be is from Chicago, Illinois and will graduate Northern Arizona University in May of this year with a degree in interior design. The couple met at NAU, from which Nick graduated in 2005. Holly's parents, Rick and Carol Eiserman, recently moved from Illinois to Prescott, Ariz.

Judith Wilson Interior Design Group, LLC announced today that they have been selected by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to create a showcase suite for one of Beverly Hills' most legendary historic landmarks: the Greystone Mansion. Wilson's finished suite will be available for public display during the Beverly Hills Garden and Design Showcase. Guests are encouraged to participate in one of the elegant tours that have been scheduled through Nov. 17 between the hours of 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The 16-acre estate dates back to 1928, when it was first occupied by the prominent Doheny Family.

Realtors, ASID partner on Golden Key Awards In conjunction with Pasadena area Realtors, the ASID Pasadena chapter is in the beginning stages of creating a Golden Key award for homes that are exceptionally designed by the incredible, outstanding, elite, Pasadena designers. Lee Mink-Barr , current ASID president and owner of Lee Mink & Associates, came up with the idea for the program. Edna Ulasewicz , ASID CID owner of Classic Designs, Inc., is the current program chairwoman.
