St. George's Preschool will be hosting its annual Dragon Faire fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5. For more than 30 years, the Dragon Faire has been an event adored by the community's young children. Fairground music will fill the air as the children enjoy this year's fun-filled family event that will include activities such as carnival games, an inflatable obstacle course, a petting zoo, pony rides, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. Candid photos will be taken throughout the event by our raffle sponsor, Printefex.

Crestview had its last Walk-a-Thon with Head of School Marge Hanna on Sunday, Oct 15. Hanna is retiring this year, and the turnout was fantastic. Teachers, staff, students, alumni and parents walked laps around the St. Francis High School track to earn money for the Marge Hanna Endowment Fund for Technology. Walkers enjoyed music and games by a deejay, lemons with peppermint sticks, homemade snacks and food from the In-N-Out Burger truck. Prizes were given for the most laps walked (the gumball machine was a big draw)

presented with design awards Awards were presented March 22 to three students who drew a T-shirt design for Crestview's annual Walkathon. Sixth grader Jensen was the first place winner, Sarah, a fourth grader and Nisha, a first grader were the runners-up. Jensen's design best fit this year's theme, "Walk Together for Crestview." On Sunday, May 2, students, parents, alumni, staff and teachers will walk around the St. Francis High School track to raise funds for Crestview School in La Cañada.

Immediately after completing band camp at Cal Poly Pomona - an annual tradition to bring freshman performers into step while promoting camaraderie - members of the La Cañada High School Marching Band performed a season-preview field show on Aug. 15 at their campus on Oak Grove Drive. PHOTOS: La Cañada High School Marching Band pre-season practice performance First, the band enjoyed an In-N-Out burger meal, then took to the field to demonstrate the skills it has so far mastered in music and movement, cheered on by friends and family members.

Crestview Preparatory School held its annual Walkathon at the St. Francis High School track on May 2. With temperatures soaring past 100 degrees, 217 students, staff, teachers, parents and alumni walked laps to raise money for the school's ongoing educational programs. About $12,000 was raised from pledges per lap or flat sum pledges. Lap cards were given to all participants and could be redeemed for prizes based on the amount of laps walked. Walkathon Chairs May Wong and Ruth Coyne worked hard to make sure all the walkers were well fed and entertained.

Nov. 30 was a big night for the winners of La Cañada High School 7/8 program's magazine contest. The seventh and eighth grade winners were treated to a special limousine ride. And not in an ordinary limousine, either. It was a Hummer limo with great music and "stuff," according to winner Brittany Kolb. "I was really happy with my work selling the magazines, because the limo ride was really awesome," she said. In almost an exact echo, Brittany's friend Emily Schreck said "I'm so glad I sold 25 magazines.

On Sunday, Oct. 23, Crestview Preparatory School in La Cañada held its annual Walk-a-thon. Teachers, students, staff and alumni walked laps around the St. Francis High School track to earn money for their school. Sponsors either paid for the number of laps walked or paid a flat fee. This year the proceeds are going to upgrade the music and art room. Walkers were treated to music and games by a DJ, homemade snacks, Fruit-a-Freeze bars, drinks and food from the In N' Out Burger truck.
