Letters to the Editor Kudos to band’s conductor, soloist I enjoyed Ruth Longoria’s article about the LCF Community Band and the people enjoying Music in the Park [“Striking the right note,” July 31]. I would like to add many cheers for Susan Hamre, who rehearses and conducts the band, and for the marvelous young soloist who sang “The Impossible Dream.” It was a talented and delightful program. — Elizabeth McMurray Glendale   Editor’s note: McMurray and others may be happy to learn the LCF Community Band returns to the Memorial Park bandstand this Sunday.

How the older brother keeps his kid brother and himself single at the onslaught of those women provides the evening's fun. _____________ "Man of La Mancha" Runs: Feb. 16 to April 9   Undoubtedly one of the most beloved musicals of all time, Glendale Centre Theatre presents this spectacular show about a simple man with an impossible Dream.

What is so sacred about Social Security? As an investment vehicle it is a titanic failure. If it were a business, it would have been dissolved years ago, and the people in charge locked up for life. It is the fraud of all frauds. A gigantic pyramid scheme where those who got in early will reap the benefits, those who got in later are pleading, hustling and threatening others to get in so that they can move up and those getting in at the bottom left with their hands out and pockets empty.
