John H.B. "Jack" French, a prominent community leader and Red Crosser has joined the SGPV Chapter as Interim CEO effective May 23. French is not new to the chapter, which he led as executive director from 1976 to 1981. He left the chapter to join the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association as CEO, a position he held from 1981 to 2000. French said he is greatly honored to once again lead the Chapter and be in a position to help "restore the confidence and trust in this organization."

Anna Jackson, daughter of Tina and Bryan Jackson of La Cañada, will travel to Quito, Ecuador Dec. 28 to spend more than a month volunteering in orphanages. Jackson graduated in 2003 from La Cañada High School attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah that summer. Jackson will travel with other volunteers through Orphanage Support Services Organization (OSSO), a nonprofit humanitarian organization that sends volunteers on a regular basis to help in local orphanages in both Cuenca and Quito, Ecuador, two of the country's largest cities.

The youth volunteers of the San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a car wash and bake sale event on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 76 Gas Station, 2390 Huntington Dr. in San Marino to raise funds for training and leadership camps. Members of Red Cross clubs in five local schools ? Alhambra High School, South Pasadena High School, WestridgeHigh School in Pasadena, San Gabriel High School and Flintridge Preparatory School in La Cañada Flintridge ?
