Q. According to a recent article in the Catholic weekly Our Sunday Visitor, inundated with more technology than ever before, today’s young adults struggle to engage life outside the digital realm. How can teens stay connected without losing touch with the outside world? Rabbi Simcha Bachman: Over the last 15 years, we have witnessed revolutionary changes in the way we communicate and share information. And while the advent of these new technologies is largely positive, it is also true that we run the risk of weakening our direct human connections if we become too fixated on computers and cellphones.

While resolving conflict between colliding cultures in the Middle East is unlikely to occur in the very near future, La Cañada couple Patrick and Mouna Stewart believe change is possible, even if it has to happen one mind and one heart at a time. To that end they have produced the documentary film “It's Better to Jump,” which tells the story of everyday Palestinians coping with the increasingly difficult reality of living as minorities in their own homeland. “This stresses the importance of being objective,” says Mouna Stewart, whose own family moved from the Gaza Strip in the '60s.
