?It?s been a challenging year up in the state capital,? state Sen. Jack Scott (D-Altadena) said Monday night as he began his state of the state address before the La Cañada Flintridge City Council. Scott outlined several key pieces of legislation he?s been involved with this year, including Senate Bill 325, a bill that calls for accountability as it relates to the $14 billion the state spends per year on higher education. ?We need to take a look at data to make sure higher education is affordable; we need to look at completion rates; how well students are being prepared for the workforce and how many high school students are going on to college,?
