La Cañada April 22 Burglary, commercial: 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive. A deputy, working as a school resource officer at La Cañada High School, was informed that an iPad, MacBook and several personal items had been taken from the school sometime the night before. A student reported her wallet had been stolen from her backpack, after she'd left it in the band room around 5 p.m. At around 10:30 p.m., she returned and took her backpack without looking inside. When her mother called to ask if she was missing her credit card, because odd charges had been made, the student noticed her wallet was missing.

It was a the inaugural 1963, gas-powered three-wheel Harley Davidson golf cart. Driven, of course, the Anonymous Source, an attractive Thursday Club member in her 40s, in the helpful habit of providing a certain Valley Sun columnist with exclusive information.

Back when La Costa Resort opened in 1965, the area around Carlsbad probably felt a little more remote than it does today. Some 30 miles north of San Diego, the area's building boom has created non-stop residential neighborhoods from Oceanside just north of Carlsbad clear down to the Mexican border.
