When I was a kid we had a pet monkey named Bono (as in Sonny ? not like the rock star in U-2). She was great at birthday parties. You didn?t need balloons or cake, just her, and believe me the party was ON! I knew two things about her ? she loved bananas and she was really smart. The more I learn about bananas, the more I realize just how smart she was. Research suggests that just two bananas can provide enough energy for a hard-core 90-minute workout. Athletes love them for the quick release of sustained energy that comes from the three natural sugars?

When I was a kid, we had a pet monkey named Bono (as in Sonny, not like the rock star in U-2). She was great at parties - balloons and cake are gratuitous when there's a monkey around. I knew two things about Bono: She loved bananas and she was really smart. The more I learn about bananas, the more I realize just how smart she was. Just two bananas can provide enough energy for a hard-core 90-minute workout. Athletes love them for the quick release of sustained energy that comes from the three natural sugars - fructose, sucrose and glucose.

Flintridge Pharmacy & Medical Supply, formerly known as Cal-Med East Pharmacy, in celebration of its new name will hold a giant free health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. The La Cañada Valley Sun is one of the health fair's major sponsors. Michael Stremfel, son of the founder of the pharmacy, said, "This is the way we want to celebrate our 35 years in this community. We want to thank everyone for their support and loyalty." The free tests being offered, which would cost hundreds of dollars at a clinic, include bone density, blood glucose, carotid ultrasound, body fat analysis, blood pressure, surface sEMG, Dermascan, and total cholesterol.
