Author Marc Belissa will speak in French on "The Marquis de Lafayette, Combattant et Propagandiste de la Révolution Française" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11. The program, celebrating the 250th anniversary of Lafayette's birth, is sponsored jointly by the Alliances Françaises of Pasadena and Los Angeles. It will be presented in the auditorium of LILA (Lycée Internationale de Los Angeles) at 30 Marion Ave., Pasadena. Dr. Belissa is a lecturer at the Nantes campus of the University of Paris and a research member of the Institute of the History of the French Revolution.

Members of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s academic decathlon team explored Paris over Thanksgiving to broaden the girls’ studies of the French Revolution, the theme for this year’s decathlon competition slated for Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 at Bishop Alemany High School. “The students were particularly excited to see firsthand the art and history that we had been studying since August,” said decathlon coach Mario Pariante, who teaches social science at FSHA.

Whew! I was a busy bunny this past weekend. All five of my own grandchildren, plus two more who have adopted me as their “YaYa,” were here for the grand Easter Sunday egg hunt in my backyard. It is amazing how much energy seven little people between the ages of 5 and 12 can expend. We had a fabulous time and I'm quite sure we may have missed a couple of eggs that we might not find until July or so. Hope everyone had a happy holiday week. -- I do have a couple of events to tell you about - you know our community members are quite involved in so many different projects, benefits and other sundry activities.

FSHA?s Academic Decathlon team takes 1st place in Div. 2 Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy?s academic decathlon team took first place in Div. 2 after winning 40 medals in the Southern California Private School competition at Bishop Alemany High School on Jan. 31 and Feb. 6.
