Area 1 4300 block of La Granada Way: A shopvac was stolen from the back of a truck parked on the street, March 20-22. 4900 block of Rosemont Avenue: A car was keyed, 7:45 a.m.-3 p.m., March 16. Scratches were discovered on the driver’s side mirror, hood, passenger’s side front window and driver’s side front fender. Prospect and La Crescenta avenues: A suspect was cited for driving with a suspended license at 10:20 a.m., March 10. Area 2 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive: A wallet was stolen from a vehicle parked in the La Cañada High parking lot during a softball game, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., March 20. The passenger’s side door was discovered damaged with two ¼-inch holes above and below the door handle.

The La Cañada Unified School District Board of Governors has scheduled a workshop on athletics prior to its board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. The workshop, which will focus primarily on the La Cañada High program, will take place in the district's "round building" at 4490 Cornishon Ave. off Foothill Boulevard. Among the items to be covered by the workshop will be program philosophy, coaches' training and orientation, staff evaluation, summer programs, athlete eligibility and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)

Next week is ‘Fall Clean Up Week’ The two trash haulers that serve La Cañada Flintridge, Allied Waste and Athens Services, will collect bulky waste placed at the curb during Fall Clean Up Week, Nov. 16-20. Waste items that will be accepted on customer’s regular pick-up day next week include chairs, sofas, mattresses, carpets and rugs (tied in rolls), appliances, electronic equipment, clothing and tires. Loose items should beboxed, bundled or bagged for easy pick-up.

Primary construction on the Jessen Drive Bridge and approaching roadways is complete and estimates are that final construction on the project will end in the first week of November, according to city Public Works staff. Work currently taking place on Foothill Boulevard at Verdugo Boulevard is a Southern California Edison infrastructure upgrade project, and does not have a set completion date but must be finished before a moratorium expires in November. Large-scale construction projects are underway at two La Cañada supermarket complexes, forcing shoppers to navigate fences and concrete in addition to store aisles. Work at Plaza de La Cañada, at the northeast corner of Foothill Boulevard and Oakwood Avenue, is overlapping with work at the Ralphs shopping complex, at the northwest corner of Foothill Boulevard and Gould Avenue and is causing minor traffic disruption in and around their respective parking lots, according to officials.

A 23-year-old La Crescenta man was arrested on Foothill Boulevard at Rosemont Avenue in La Crescenta on Tuesday, June 19, on suspicion of possession of $400 in heroin, which was found in his vehicle. According to Sgt. Gilbert Arce, of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department, Matthew Bird, 23, of La Crescenta was stopped on Foothill Blvd. An investigation and search found his to be in possession of heroin. Because of the amount, the intent was most likely to sell the heroin. "Usually personal use is $20 worth, not $400," Arce said.
