The Fairplex in Pomona's 4th of July fireworks spectacular welcomes back monster trucks, big air freestyle motocross and monster fireworks as the event celebrates 21 years of patriotism, friends, families and fun at Kaboom! The festivities get underway at 8 p.m. and culminate with the fireworks presentation at 9:15 p.m. Freestyle motocross gets the crowd going with unbelievable highflying stunts performed by a group of riders that includes Billy Walls, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Scotty Stephens and Grant Teal.

Just in time to hang boughs of holly and garland on the mantle and sneak a special present under the tree, Originals Holiday Gift Show heads into Fairplex Dec. 2 through 4 with an array of great gift and decorating ideas. Formerly known as the Harvest Festival, Originals will feature more than 300 artists and specialties, including gourmet food sampling, artist demonstrations, live entertainment and more. The Originals Holiday Gift Show is set to be the most original, one-of-a-kind jewelry, photograph, painting, pottery, ceramics, home décor, clothing and specialty foods show in the country.

Mission Circuit Dog Show — Fri., May 26 through May 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Returning for its annual Memorial Day weekend event, more than 145 breeds will compete for top dog over four days of trials and tests. The dogs and owners arrive from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico to be a part of one of the largest dog shows in the country. General admission is $6, ages 60+ $4, ages 6 to 12 $3, and free for ages 5 and younger. Parking is at Gate 17 on Fairplex Dr. Information (323)

Wine & Cars Under the Stars, a unique fundraising event being held this Saturday, June 16, includes the official unveiling of the medalists of the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition which was held in May and presented by Ralphs. The benefit takes place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum at Fairplex. Tickets for the event are $100 per person, a portion of which is tax deductible. Host packages are available starting at $500. The event benefits the educational programming for the Foundations at Fairplex and brings together the winners amid an impressive collection of one-of-a-kind automobiles and hot rods that will not only be enjoyed in their true-to-life third-dimension classic forms, but also on canvas.

Premiere Party Launches 2004 Los Angeles County Fair Before the aroma of cotton candy and popcorn fill the air at Fairplex, the L.A. County Fair will roll out the red carpet for guests of the 2004 Premiere Party Colors of Mexico. Scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sept. 9, the Premiere Party is the kick-off to the fair and will honor Los Angeles County Fair Association board of directors member Arthur Ludwick and his wife, Sarah. The party also serves as a fund-raiser for the Fairplex Education Foundation.

Americafest at the Rose Bowl Saturday The 83 rd annual 4th of July celebration will take place Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The parking lots open at 8 a.m. for families to set up their picnics. The Family Fun Festival, food and fun court activities open at 2 p.m. on the grass area in front of the Rose Bowl. Kids will enjoy a variety of bounce houses and there will be plenty of food and exhibits for the whole family. Admission to the Fun Zone area is free. Paul Magers, CBS 2 news anchor, hosts the show beginning at 6:50 p.m. inside the stadium with a US Air Force flyover and Pasadena Fire Department Color Guard accompanying the National Anthem.

There?s fun for everyone with the new Bark Park and A Pirate?s Life exhibits plus the return of fan favorites from Winter Wonderland to Going Green and fine wines, gourmet food, concerts, home and garden workshops and petting zoos. With 487 things to do at the L.A. County Fair, the excitement continues with an over-the-top fair-tastic assortment of new exhibits as well as the perennial favorites. The L.A. County Fair is going to the dogs with the new Bark Park, a fur-flying fun exhibit perfect for dog-lovers of any age. Bark Park will feature a puppy fashion show, the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show, a puppy adoption area, and designer dog houses up for auction.

Summer may be ending, but Southern California's best concert series is just beginning. It's the L.A. County Fair's End of Summer Concert Series, presented by Toyota, and featuring an all-star lineup of favorite artists live under the stars. Once again, with the Fair's expanded dates, Sept. 8 to Oct. 1 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), the concert series has 15 rockin' evenings at the nation's largest and greatest county fair. Among this year's bill are legendary rockers Heart and Creedence Clearwater Revisited, country songstress LeAnn Rimes, Def Jam recording artist Rihanna, disco diva Donna Summer and the biggest and best Monsters on the big-wheeled truck circuit.
