Lanterman Auditorium in La Cañada will be the venue April 19 when Lineage Dance performs ?Dancing Through the Ages? as a benefit for the Desi Geestman Foundation. Curtain time is 8 p.m. The foundation was formed in 1999 in memory of the Desi Geestman, a 12-year-old La Crescenta girl who died of neuroblastoma. The foundation has helped cancer patients and their families with support both financially and emotionally. ?We work with so many charities throughout the year,?

The annual Glendale Community College Faculty/Alumni Dance Production will be held over three days with four performances in the Auditorium beginning Friday, Dec. 15. Performances are on Friday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17. Admission is free and open to all except children under 5 years of age. Seating is on a first come first served basis. Early arrival is advised. Dancers in the show are students enrolled in the GCC dance program.

Hit Fox TV Show "So You Think You Can Dance" has incited a revolution in the dance community. One of the shows' top-hat choreographers, Wade Robson, will visit The Vibe Dance Studio on Friday, Oct. 27 to teach a Master Class from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Students will have an opportunity to learn Robson's own brand of artistry, sense of rhythm and technical control. Robson, a modern child prodigy, has been dancing to a beat all his own since the age of 3. In dance competitions at age 5 ? and winning.

JK Dance Company is operated by Julie Kay Stallcup, owner of Revolution Dance Studio in Montrose. Leslie Buhl Dance studio held its annual recital on June 1 where 70 girls provided entertainment for parents and friends at La Cañada High School. Routines included the Can Can, Shortin' Bread and the Hula. She illumines the stage and shares her light with others less fortunate across the globe. This week’s La Cañada Valley Sun All-Star is 11-year-old Ella Cline, a sixth grader at Crestview Preparatory School. Ella enjoys a variety of hobbies, including dance and riding her bicycle. She also lights candles for services as an acolyte at Salem Lutheran Church in Glendale. Ella is a voracious reader, and enjoys making up stories especially for school writing assignments, she said.

Sin City. The City of Lights. A gambler’s paradise. Las Vegas is many things for many people. But for the students in JK’s Dance Company, Las Vegas means only one thing: dance. About 70 dancers, ranging in age from 8 to 17, have been practicing 114 numbers, two days a week, for the past four months in anticipation of the Las Vegas Encore Performing Arts regional competition in June. The rehearsal room at Revolution Dance studio, owned by Julie Kay Stallcup, was packed Wednesday with students, each wearing the dance company’s red and black uniform, comprising a red JK’s Dance Company logo-emblazoned shirt with black tights.
