A ?big win? was the phrase most used after St. Francis High dispatched rival Loyola, 2-0, in a Mission League match on Monday afternoon at Loyola High. It was a big win because any time the Golden Knights best their rivals, it?s big. It was big because it marked a season sweep for St. Francis against Loyola, swinging the tide of the rivalry the Golden Knights? way for the first time in a while. Perhaps it was biggest, though, because it set the stage for St. Francis? showdown on Wednesday against Crespi.

BABE RUTH DIVISION Dodgers 13, Cubs 1 The Dodgers returned to La Cañada High School on Saturday morning to play the Cubs and found their groove early with a five run first inning. In the third, Longo got things started with a massive triple and was batted in by Cannata. Then Shabham Surani banged a huge double to score Barker, who had walked, and Nate Eisenberg sacrificed to send Surani scampering home.

Several members of Den 6, Cub Scout Pack 519 of La Cañada Flintridge visited the Valley Sun office last Friday. The scouts, along with their parents, were given a tour of the newspaper and shown various functions which allows the staff to put out the publication every week. The visit will count as a communications bead that the scouts can add to their Tiger Beads. Each bead is like a merit badge for older Boy Scouts. Participating in the visit were Tiger Cubs Ben Chant, age 6 ½, Calvin Lim, 7, and Nicholas Rafert, 6. All three are in the first grade at Paradise Canyon Elementary School.
