Ocean View Boulevard in La Cañada, a vehicle was vandalized when someone splattered blue paint on the driver’s side door. It appears the damage came from a paint ball gun while the vehicle was parked on the street in the 4300 block sometime between July 11-14. Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, several signs were vandalized by spray painted graffiti in the 1000 block sometime between July 11-14. Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada a global positioning system was stolen and the front passenger window was smashed on a vehicle parked in the YMCA parking lot in the 1900 block between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday.

Edward and Melinda Davis of La Crescenta are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Heather Ruth Davis to Mark Gregory Masto. Heather is the granddaughter of Margaret Miles of Glendale and Allen and Lenabelle Davis of La Cañada. Mark is the son of Dr. Ambrose and Phyllis Masto of La Cañada Flintridge. Heather is a graduate from Crescenta Valley High School. She is currently working at her mother's restaurant ? Frank's Famous Kitchen and Bakery in Montrose ?

Mr. And Mrs. Cameron McArthur of Glendale recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Cailin Jeannie McArthur, to Johnathan Lee McDiffett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven McDiffett of La Crescenta. The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of La Cañada High School. She is working toward a teaching degree. She is preparing to start a new job at Lien On Me Inc. in Pasadena. The groom-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Crescenta Valley High School. He owns Superior Softubs in La Crescenta, a franchise of the Softub Corporation.

A summer wedding is planned by Nicole Marie Roberts and Jeremy John Guinta, whose engagement was announced at a family party. The bride-to-be's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gary Roberts of La Crescenta; her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Densmore of Glendale. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guinta of La Cañada Flintridge are the groom's parents. Nicole is a graduate of Crescenta Valley High School and California State University, Northridge. She is a member of the CVHS Alumni Chorale.

A July wedding date has been selected by Heather McCutcheon and her fiance, Jason Lighthart. Heather is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary McCutcheon of La Crescenta. Jason is the son of William Lighthart of Sunland and Kari Lighthart of La Crescenta. Both are graduates of Crescenta Valley High School. The bride-elect graduated cum laude with a master's in occupational therapy from Loma Linda University and is currently a pediatric occupational therapist. The bridgegroom owns his own business and will graduate in June with a bachelor's degree in graphic design from California State University, Northridge.

Five students from area high schools were recently honored with “Good Citizen Award” from the Don Jose Verdugo Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. A luncheon honoring the students was held at a Pasadena restaurant where Barbara Rogers, good citizen chairman, introduced each of the recipients, their parents and school counselors. Accepting the awards were Gloria Han, daughter of Paul and So Han, who attends Crescenta Valley High School; Jenna Gulick, daughter of Belen and Douglas Gulick, who is a senior at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy; Carly Moore, daughter of Daniel and Susan Moore, who attends La Cañada High School; Jenna El-Fakih, daughter of Hamal and Mary El-Fakih, who attends Anderson W. Clark Magnet High School; and Jenna Galper, daughter of Gayle Penrod and Michael Galper, who is a senior at Flintridge Preparatory School.

The Christopher A. Burrows Memorial Scholarships, each for a minimum of $1,500, will be awarded to college-bound high school seniors from the Crescenta-Cañada Valley on May 17. This is the sixth year that this award will be given to students who demonstrate a high level of academic and extracurricular achievement as well as strength of character and zest for life. Last year five local students received scholarships. Applications are available online at www.glendalecommunityfoundation.

April 25, 1977-March 15, 2004 Trent William Brandon Nickell passed away March 14 in a San Diego hospital. He was 26 years old. Born and raised in La Crescenta, Trent attended Monte Vista Elementary, Rosemont Junior High School and was a 1995 graduate of Crescenta Valley High School. His mother, Jette Moller Nickell and father, Charles Nickell, were first-year graduates of Crescenta Valley High School. Trent played years of A.Y.S.O. soccer, Little League baseball, Babe Ruth baseball, and Glendale Bears youth football.
