Stephanie Abajian , a La Cañada High School graduate and daughter of Douglas and Marie Abajian, received the Arkell Hall Award in art history from Hartwick College. The Arkell Hall Award is given to outstanding students who consistently contribute to the department of art and art history. Grant Chin of La Cañada recently graduated from La Salle University in Philadelphia with a master's of business administration in marketing. Jane Rhyu , an LCHS graduate, was one of 31 students awarded the Merrill Presidential Scholarship from Cornell University.

Four La Cañada Flintridge residents were named to the Bucknell University dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester. Three of the four, Remy E. deBrauwere, Kimberly A. McCutchan and Jordan M. Sukys, are 2008 graduates of La Cañada High. The fourth, William T. O'Brien, graduated in 2006 from Loyola High School in Los Angeles. LSU confers degree on Crider Stephanie Marie Crider of La Cañada Flintridge was among 3,382 students to receive degrees last month when Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge held its 271st commencement exercises.

Rachel Salvo and Rebecca Salvo , the daughters of Teresa and John N. Salvo of La Cañada, graduated May 16 from Haverford College in Haverford, Pa. Both women earned bachelor's degrees in economics. While studying at Haverford, both were involved in a variety of campus activities. Rachel and Rebecca played on the volleyball team and served as team co-captains. Rachel was named Honorable Mention American Volleyball Coaches Assn., was an Honorable Mention Mid-Atlantic Region Team selection by coaches and was named First-Team All-Centennial Conference.
