I’ve always been a seeker, searching for the meaning of circumstance and asking that timeless question, “What makes life significant?” I’ve contemplated the perplexities of existence trying to understand those moments of euphoria as though they were a simple mathematical equation easily reproduced. I’ve learned that life should be lived, not analyzed. And, the magical play continues and it is up to us to contribute a verse. The question in not one of understanding but what will your verse be?

The past couple of weeks, I've been giving myself a doggone headache trying to intellectualize the phenomenology of "Christmas," and "Believing." It ain't easy; especially when you have to think. Quoting one of my Brownie Scouts from troop 889, "What the heck!" Enough is enough; I'm going back to the basics. You know, Vince Lombardi - the fundamentals. So, when the world becomes a bit too esoteric, I fondly remember Mrs. Venola, (Mrs. V). She just knew about things. I lived in her guest house in La Crescenta, but little did I know she was the Christmas Angel that we seek.

Parents and grandparents had a twinkle in their eyes, as the Palm Crest Elementary School kindergarteners excitedly entered the cafeteria Friday morning to perform their holiday songs. There was not an empty seat, with many guests having to stand. Following the lead of Maggie Landau, one of the kindergarten teachers, and accompanied by Mariella Nybakken, teacher's assistant, playing the piano, the kinder Panthers sang Jingle Bells, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Angel Band, Up On The House Top, Candles of Hanukkah, Joyous Chanukah and It's A Small World.
