The La Cañada Flintridge Democratic Club met Jan. 21 at the home of Bill and Elaine Hurd. The Club congratulated three of its members, President Celina Lew, Vice President Bill Hurd and get-out-the-vote chair Elaine Hurd on their election to a two-year term by the 44th Assembly District as delegates to the California Democratic Party. They won three of 12 available delegates from this District. An outside speaker, Victor King, spoke to the Club regarding the nature and purpose of the Democratic Leadership Council, which he represents in this area.

New City Treasurer Jeffrey Wang , a resident of La Cañada Flintridge for the past 15 years who most recently served on the city's Investment Advisory Committee, was chosen on a unanimous vote by the City Council Tuesday night to serve as the new, full-time city treasurer. The position, held on an interim basis by David Hemstreet, became open when former city treasurer Donald Voss was appointed to the City Council. Wang was among four applicants for the position, according to City Manager Mark Alexander.

Democratic Club will meet Jan. 25 The next meeting of the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the home of Susan McConnell and Lars Perkins , 181 Normandy Lane, La Cañada Flintridge. The speaker will be Eric Bauman . Bauman is the Los Angeles County Democratic chair and is a candidate for vice-chair of the California Democratic Party.
