A briefcase accidentally left on a La Cañada Flintridge bus stop bench at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday led to the closing of several blocks of the main thoroughfare, diverting rush hour traffic onto residential streets for a two-hour period. Foothill Boulevard between Commonwealth Avenue and Angeles Crest Highway was cordoned off from traffic after Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Andrew Cronin reported he had observed the abandoned briefcase while patrolling the downtown area and was unable to establish its ownership.

The following crime reports for La Cañada Flintridge were taken by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. 2100 block of Foothill Blvd., Donald David, 39, of South Pasadena was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. After investigating deputies also found credit cards issued in another name and found that David was a wanted parole violator. Saturday, July 14 4900 block of Oakwood Ave ., someone entered a home and stole cash.

Oak Grove Drive and Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, Douglas Paul Robinson, 45, of West Covina was arrested after he was found asleep in a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The vehicle was in the parking lot at Hahamongna Park. Deputies also found burglary tools in his possession. He was arrested at 10 p.m. on Monday. Milmada Drive in La Cañada, the front passenger side window of an SUV was smashed while it was parked on the street in the 800 block at about 11 p.m. on Sunday.

He used his security clearance to gain access to classified materials stored in the National Archives.
