Songs of Summer, a concert of operatic solos, duets and art songs, will be presented Sunday, June 17, at 4 p.m. in the Lanterman House Ballroom, 4420 Encinas Dr., in La Cañada. Featuring mezzo-soprano Nandani Sinha and soprano Michelle McWilliams, who will be accompanied by pianist Brian Farrell, the program will open with Samuel Barber's "Knoxville: Summer of 1915" and include Sr. Edward Elgar's, "Sea Pictures." "Knoxville" was commissioned by soprano Eleanor Steber and was inspired by a collection of James Agee's prose and poetry.

ACTIVITIES 5K Walk for Foster Care — July 26 at 8 a.m. 5K Walk around the Rose Bowl, with concert, children’s fun area with jumpers, petting zoo and crafts, kids commercial auditions, foster care anthem sing-along, parenting, mentoring and adoption classes and more. Registration begins at 7 a.m., programs and seminars begins at 10 a.m. and concerts starting at noon. Performers include Evelyn “Champaign” King, Smokey Norful, Goapele, Howard Johnson and Impromp2.
