The La Cañada High School Booster Club hosted its annual fundraising dinner and auction last Saturday evening to benefit the athletic and other extra-curricular programs at the school. In true Spartan style, the Oakmont Country Club was decked in red and gold as parents, Booster club members and other friends of La Cañada High enjoyed perusing the silent auction items before sitting down to enjoy a performance by the La Cañada High School Chamber Singers. “Usually women take care of decorations for these kinds of things,” joked Booster vice president of public relations Steven Brown.

The La Cañada Spartan Boosters, a support group for the 7-12 programs at La Cañada High School, will hold its annual Dinner Auction to raise funds for students’ academic and athletic endeavors. The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Oakmont Country Club and is one of the major fundraisers for the group. Single tickets are $100, but for extra value, Booster memberships at the $325 level and above include two or more tickets to this event. The Booster Club has been in existence for decades.

Like many school clubs, sports and organizations, the La Cañada High School Spartan Booster Club La Cañada High School Spartan Booster Club is preparing for the 2008-09 school year. One of the first orders of business is to acquaint newcomers and remind returning students and parents that the LCHS Spartan Boosters is a support group dedicated to supporting 7th through 12th grade extracurricular activities alive and well throughout the year. Led by a team of 40 directors, the group supplies uniforms, helps refinish the gym, provides help with the STAR program and supports dozens of sports, activities and clubs.

On Saturday, Nov. 4 the annual Spartan Booster Dinner during the live auction portion of the event, there will be as in the past a paddle auction to help raise funds for a special project. Just this week the project for the paddle action was announced by the Spartan Booster Club. During their monthly October meeting, the Boosters selected a technology that can be used in many classes for their paddle auction. The Mack labs and LCD overhead projectors. In keeping with goals of supporting both athletics and academics, the completion of the Mac Lab is a perfect goal for this fund-raising project.

The La Cañada Spartan Booster Club is gearing up for one of its largest fundraisers of the year. The great things about the La Cañada Booster Auction are the gifts and the people attending. The people that go to the auction are all great friends and supporters of the 7 – 12th grade extracurricular activities at La Cañada High School. This exciting event will be held Nov. 4 at the Oakmont Country Club, as it was last year. Many supporters realize that if they join the support organization at higher levels, auction tickets are included along with passes to home football and basketball games.

Several members of the La Cañada Spartan Booster Club were treated to a tour of the new high school fitness center. The fitness center's machines were purchased with funds from the paddle auction at the Boosters' annual auction and dinner dance as well as additional funds from a follow up letter campaign. Much of the fitness center at La Cañada High School is already in use. "It was a delight to see the results of our community's support," said Booster President Paul Woolls.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the annual La Cañada High School Spartan Booster Dinner auction will be held at the Oakmont Country Club. This year, besides being the usual fun evening with supporters and neighbors of LCHS's 7th through 12th grade extracurricular activities an added attraction is the honoring of the past presidents of the Boosters. The annual auction, one of the major fundraisers for the Boosters, has always been an evening of fun. Not only are the auction items interesting, it is a great way to make new friends and visit old ones.

With the beginning of school this week, the La Cañada Booster Club reminds the La Cañada High School 7th through 12 grade students and parents about the support group. The Boosters provide invaluable support for extracurricular activities at LCHS. Unlike many other booster organizations, the Spartan Boosters proved support for both academic (approximately 40 percent of the Boosters' donations) and athletic (approximately 60 percent of their donations). One of the major fundraisers is the membership to the Boosters.

Boosters running membership drive The La Cañada High School Spartan Booster Club , the quiet but always present extracurricular activity support group for the seventh through 12th grades at the high school, is gearing up for another exciting year. The Boosters, who support over 70 activities at the school, provide funds to a variety of sports and academic organizations ranging from football to the school newspaper. One of the club’s major sources of income is from the membership drive that starts in August.
