For those in La Cañada who would like to turn the clock back to a simpler time, the La Cañada High School Jazz Band and Chamber Singers have just the thing. On Sunday, March 29, at 5 p.m. the LCHS Jazz Band and Chamber Singers will be performing at the La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane in La Cañada. These award-winning groups will be performing Big Band Swing Music of the ?30s and ?40s in the elegant setting of the Thursday Club. Sporting their trademark tuxedos and evening dresses, these talented young men and women will be performing on the stage overlooking the dance floor where swing dancers are encouraged to show their stuff.

To get "in the mood" of the upcoming Hep to the USO at the Sierra Madre Playhouse, '40s period clothing and swing dancers in the audience are welcome. So says Candyce Columbus, founder of the "Totally Hep" musicians who will present Hep to the USO on April 4, at 7 p.m. "Totally Hep" will bring back memories of the swinging tunes made popular by the Andrews Sisters, along with timeless ballads and ever-popular World War II novelty tunes. Columbus appears as Aunt Evelyn Whiffle, Andrea Saldana as Wendy Whiffle, and Tania Obteshka as Sadie Whiffle.
