With this summer's release of "Batman Begins," fans are reintroduced to Bruce Wayne's origins and how Batman came to be the Caped Crusader. The movie was great on its own, but having control of Batman is even better. Millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne (voiced by Christian Bale from the film) goes into hiding after his parents are murdered on the streets of Gotham City. While away in the Himalayas, Wayne trains as a ninja in the League of Shadows with Ra's Al Ghul (voiced by Ken Watanabe from the film)

?The Dark Knight,? second installment of the ?Batman Begins? franchise, does not disappoint. This time around, Batman (Christian Bale) faces a new foe- the Joker (Heath Ledger) who wants to see Gotham tear itself apart just for the fun of it. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, Batman?s secret identity, is having problems of his own with his girl (Maggie Gyllenhaal) in the arms of a better man, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) because Bruce can never be there for her. The Joker is trying to pull Dent into his plan and show that even the highest of Gotham?

12 Reasons to Spend the Summer Inside Any movie lover should be grateful to be alive this summer, which promises a great selection of movies, from remakes to originals. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith The summer starts May 19, with the release of the third and possibly final Star Wars epic. "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" shows the beginning of Darth Vader's reign on the dark side of the Force. As Anakin Skywalker puts it, "This is where the fun begins."

Halloween was in the air at La Cañada Elementary and Paradise Canyon Elementary on Friday as both schools filled their playgrounds with pumpkins. Paradise Canyon had a pumpkin carnival that included face painting, candy and pizza sales and, of course, a yard full of pumpkins. Students walked carefully through the pumpkin patch as they chose the most perfect one. Hannah Sherman, 4 ½, wanted a small pumpkin. She already had her costume picked out for Halloween trick-or-treating.

Ten Years Ago … In an isolated incident around 1:30 on an afternoon in June 1996 a woman approached a teller at Citizens Bank, 858 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. She handed a teller a note, allegedly robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money and escaped. No visible weapon was used. Twenty Years Ago … There were not too many places in town that specialized in health enhancement and fitness programming for persons 3 months to 65-plus years.

 This holiday season children and adults alike will be turned on to gaming, and veteran gamers will enjoy new sensations in games and new consoles. Microsoft has the new XBOX 360, released in mid- November. This will be your must have and most difficult to find item for the holidays. The first shipment arrived on Nov. 22 and most stores sold out in one day. Though there have been some reports of technical problems with the XBOX 360, very few have been returned. Despite the problems, if you have the opportunity to get one, buy it. This last year held some great titles, whether they are based on a popular movie like the much anticipated sequel, "Star Wars Battlefront II," the new spin on a cult classic, "The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge," a free for all ogre fest in "Shrek Super Slam," an interactive chocolate factory complete with Oompa Loompas, as in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and the video game adaptation of one of the year's best films, "Batman Begins."

When Ruth Ann Bell, president of the Women's Committee of The Pasadena Symphony, and publicity chair Lynn Cooper put their heads together to begin planning the committee's 50th Anniversary Celebration, it didn't take them long to come up with a theme. "The artwork on this year's brochure provided us with the inspiration," explains Cooper, a renowned local artist. "It shows a woman outside the Pasadena Civic Auditorium where the orchestra performs, wearing a large hat. When Christina Fierro, assistant development director at The Pasadena Symphony, saw the graphic, she said, 'Hats Off!
