A 55-year-old La Cañada Flintridge man was arrested last week after allegedly pulling a gun on a fellow employee at Hill Street Café, authorities said. Sung Kook Kim was involved in a business dispute with another man on Tuesday, Aug. 13 around 7:38 p.m. at the restaurant on 1004 Foothill Blvd. , said Sgt. Robert Galbraith of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. Both men reportedly worked at the restaurant and the incident occurred in the kitchen area at the establishment.

Attorneys representing five people who were charged with beating and torturing two loan modification agents asked for more time last week to reach a potential settlement. Attorney Stephen Wegman and three other defense attorneys asked Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Teri Schwartz Jan. 7 if the case could be extended to Jan. 27 to accommodate negotiations on a possible settlement with the district attorney. Schwartz sent the case back to Burbank Superior Court to be settled.

Two women were assaulted last month in broad daylight in two separate incidents that happened at a busy La Cañada Flintridge restaurant and a quiet La Crescenta street. Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station Det. Cynthia Gonzales said the latest incident happened at Taco Bell at 4 p.m. Aug. 25. Gonzales said a 35-year-old Tujunga woman was walking out of the restaurant when a clean-shaven white man with dark hair pushed her up against a pickup truck and put his hand under her skirt.

Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding and identifying a man suspected of kidnapping and sexual assault of a young woman he allegedly abducted in the Albertsons supermarket parking lot at Lowell Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in Tujunga on a recent Sunday. According to LAPD Det. Gregory Stone, at 1:30 p.m. on May 11 an 18-year-old woman parked her vehicle on the north side of the Albertsons’ parking lot. As she exited her vehicle a man described as a brown-eyed Hispanic, 30 years old, 6’1" and 240 pounds with shaved head approached her. The man ordered her back into her vehicle; at that time he told her he had a gun. She complied.

Police are seeking suspects in a home burglary that left a La Crescenta resident with possible broken bones, authorities said. The man was returning to his home in the 2900 block of Frances Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday to find two black men in his house, with various items from his house stacked up by the door, said Sgt. Debra Herman of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. He got into a fight with the men and was punched in the face, Herman said. The suspects left without taking the items by the door, but it's unknown whether they stole other property, she said.

June 26 Identity theft: 990 Town Center Drive, noon. A woman's wallet was stolen while she was at Panera Bread. Her ATM card was used later that day to make a $923.08 purchase at the CVS pharmacy in Montrose. Attempted robbery: 2160 Foothill Boulevard, 9:30 a.m. A man emerged from the bushes, grabbed a woman and demanded she give him the dog she was walking. The woman struck the suspect, and he fled. June 29 Spousal assault: 200 Foothill Boulevard, 5 p.m. A man grabbed his wife's wrist and shoved her to the ground after becoming angry that she had thrown out marijuana and whiskey belonging to him. The couple was at a St. Francis High School football game at the time.

May 22 Theft and vandalism: 1919 Verdugo Blvd., 3 p.m. A fire extinguisher was stolen from inside the United Artists movie theater. Around the same time, five seats in one of the auditoriums sustained an estimated $500 in damage, apparently from being kicked. Mail theft: 4700 block of Palm Drive, after 8 p.m. A letter containing a check worth $612 was taken from a mailbox. May 21 Theft: 1400 block of Descanso Drive, after 5:30 p.m. Power tools valued at $3,900, including drills, a jigsaw, a welder and sander were taken from the Descanso Gardens storage room.

Aggravated assaults were up in the foothills during the month of November, with five reported in La Cañada and La Crescenta, more than the total number of victims in all of 2009, according to a Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station crime analyst. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had that many aggravated assaults,” said analyst Barbara Hazard, “but the stats count numbers of victims.” In fact, Hazard said, there were three incidents with five victims in November.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a La Cañada resident and Los Angeles Unified School District teacher on charges of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking a neighbor with a hammer and cultivation of marijuana, investigators said Tuesday. Michael Kevin Burns, 44, was taken into custody at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 29 after allegedly chasing his neighbor down Rockland Place and threatening him with a hammer. “We got a call from a person claiming to be the victim in the 4700 block of Rockland Place,” said Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A former La Cañada High School football player is a suspect in an alleged assault case in Sunland, according to a police official who otherwise remained tight-lipped. Lavelle Peterson, 20, who graduated from LCHS in 2007 and was a standout running back for the Spartans, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend after an argument near her home late Thursday. ?We can?t talk about it right now because the case is still pending,? said Det. T. Dougherty of the Los Angeles Police Department Foothills Division.
