We are speeding through April at an alarming rate. After we get over the hump of income tax time I know that I will feel better that it is over and done with. My goodness, I hate that time of the year! Social happenings are cruising right along here in LCF so I will share with you what is going on. Our mayor, Steve Del Guercio and his first lady Elysa , hosted the recent Tournament of Roses ?Happy Hour? at their lovely home. More than 100 guests, with hors d?oeuvres in hand, arrived at the door ready to party.

The July La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn. Happy Hour was hosted by Laura and Bill Olhasso. Some 65 floaters enjoyed the event. The August get-together will be the annual ?Hamburger Night? at the home of Sarah and Mayfield Marshall, 4918 Vineta Avenue, in La Cañada. Festivities start at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, and anyone over 18 is welcome. More than 70 'floaters' enjoyed the LCF Tournament of Roses Association's recent Happy Hour in the spacious and lovely patio/backyard of Sherrill and Jim Carbonetti . Delicious appetizers, favorite beverages, and camaraderie with friends continue to draw people to these popular gatherings. More than eighty floaters gathered at the home of Jean and Don Spomer for LCFTRA's March Happy Hour, and multiple venues for food created a spacious ambience great for chitchat and even serious conversation. The La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association’s first Happy Hour of the year was hosted by Lanterman House Museum. More than 40 intrepid floaters sipped beverages and glanced at Lanterman’s display of items evoking memories of the past 33 years, including the artist’s rendering of the first float, “Horse Play.” Among the partygoers were Sherrill Carbonetti, Dave Moffett, Jean and Don Spomer, Richard Grippi, Nancy Thurston, Adene and Jim Misamore, Art Johnson, Sue Beatty, Adele and Will Hillyer, Harriett and Chuck Hughes, Mary and Daryal Gant, Diane and John Landrum, Carol and Bill Imbriale, Sharlyn French, Lynne and Joe Thompson, Bobbie and Clyde Hemphill, Pam Wiederbeck, Larry and Eremita Miranda Andreason, Fernando Rabelo, Denise Leiler, Becky and Chuck Gelhaar, Peggy Hotaling, Rose and Don Manning, Pat Foltyn, Chris Mott, Dave MacPherson, Brenda Gant and Jeff Hughes.

Over 100 members and friends gathered at Sarah and Mayfield Marshall's wonderful home and garden on Vineta Avenue for LCF Tournament of Roses' annual Hamburger Night on Aug. 25. Bob Lamson's LP collection of Big Band music and Sousa marches provided a perfect atmosphere for sipping, nibbling and schmoozing. The LCF Tournament of Roses floaters had the "best of all possible worlds" at their Happy Hour June 22 at the home of Pat & Otis Hutchin s. It was a lovely evening for a patio party. Otis and his "The Wright Stuff Jazz Band" kept guests in a toe-tapping mood all evening, the food table was a "groaning board" of delicious morsels, and the friendly bartenders provided suitable liquid refreshment.
