?A Summer Evening Under the Stars? featuring Fritz Coleman along with members in concert of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, tonight (Thursday, June 25) at 6 p.m. On the colorful, spacious Museum Courtyard overlooking the city, high atop Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Wine and other beverages will be served along with delicious appetizers courtesy of Chin Chin of Beverly Hills, Phoenicia Restaurant, Porto?s Bakery & Café and Shakers Restaurant. Music will be performed by members of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra and laughter by well known NBC Weathercaster and Humorist Fritz Coleman.

La Cañada Presbyterian Church invites couples of all ages and stages of life to join them for this month's Couple's Garden with special guest speaker Al Dueck, professor of psychology and theology at Fuller Seminary. Dueck's topic will be "So What's Wrong With Being Romantic?" The presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. March 31 in the Harris Hall Congdon Room, with appetizers and conversation, followed at 6 p.m. by the speaker. Dueck was educated in Canada and the United States, and his work has taken him all over the world.

The Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors (PFAR) raised over $10,000 last month at its 2006 wine tasting charity event, "Masquerade." Nearly 200 guests gathered at the stunning Tiffany Oaks Estate, a 1908 Craftsman home in South Pasadena owned by Mario and Therese Molina. The evening featured scrumptious appetizers from Cynthia Brooks Distinctive Catering; a chocolate fountain, compliments of Countrywide's Mozilo Team; and Chronicle Wine Cellar's flavorsome, petite boutique wines, compliments of Washington Mutual's Chris Ioannou Team.

The home of Maria and Chuck Guinta of La Cañada Flintridge was the venue when the Crescenta Cañada Democratic Club gathered for its annual holiday party last month. The event celebrated a productive year and honored officers who helped the club during the November election. It also marked the last day in office of former state Assemblyman Anthony Portantino. About 50 members and friends turned out for the event, many bringing their favorite appetizers to share. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank)

Rose Queen Mary McCluggage and her Royal Court make their premier appearance at LCF Tournament of Roses Association's annual "Wine and Roses" fundraiser at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov., 5, at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. The six Rose Princesses are Christina Barsamian, Aneesah Giroux, Sue Park, Blair Ramirez, Kaitlin Terpstra-Sweeney and Danielle Vine. Three of the royals attend LCF schools: Queen Mary attends Flintridge Preparatory School, Princess Christina, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, and Princess Sue, La Cañada High School.

The La Cañada Flintridge Country Club held its first Valentine's Dinner and Dance under the direction of General Manager Cyrus Afshin. Based on a poll of the membership, the dance was held earlier than the traditional date of Feb. 14. The dress code of club casual was strictly enforced as members assembled into the Top O' The Tee for hosted butler-serviced hors d'oeuvres of chicken, jumbo shrimp and brochette. Members then went into the ballroom to sit at reserved tables complete with name signs that are used for all member events.

One hundred and thirty five students are enrolled in La Cañada High School's beginning and advanced culinary arts classes. Under the direction of Karen Stattler, they learn how to prepare appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, as well as make decorative vegetable garnishments. Because of the culinary skills Brad Bannon, a senior, has learned in the classes, he has been accepted into the prestigious California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena. This is his first step in fulfilling his dream to some day own his own restaurant.
