"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" may be one of the most popular holiday stories, but it's not often that you get to see a live reindeer in Southern California. This holiday season, the L.A. Zoo will have reindeer to see up close and a display of reindeer antlers, you can learn how antlers shed and grow back each year. On weekends from Nov. 23 through the end of the year, there will be holiday entertainment and fun crafts for the family. Santa Claus also will be on hand for photographs for a nominal fee. During "Reindeer Romp," the L.A. Zoo Choo Choo will be available daily to give young visitors train rides for a nominal fee. The Zoo is in Griffith Park at the junction of the Ventura (134)

Nancy Abbott and The ALFie Singers True to tradition, Kiwanis-AM again had the ALFie Singers on their agenda for the first meeting in December. Formed by the musical ladies in the Assistance League, this spirited choir is directed by Nancy Abbott. Not only did the lovely voices of the ALFie Singers put the Kiwanians in the right mood for the holidays, but they made the performance even more enjoyable by acting out the carols with bells and antlers. ? DAR host Dr. Mascola, new members Members of the Don José Verdugo Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution have been busy recently.

In the spirit of both Christmas and cooperation, Crescenta-Cañada Cooperative Nursery School students, teachers, and parents celebrated the holiday with songs, food, and so much merriment that Santa himself had to come see what all the noise was about. "It just gets better and better each year," said Nita Imm, teacher of the Busy Bears and director of the school, referring to their annual Christmas Program where the Darling Ducklings (3 year olds) and Busy Bears (4 year olds) join voices and hands to the delight of the preschoolers' family and friends.
