Despite having many penalties toward the end of the game, Head Coach Perry Skaggs and the Flintridge Rebels dominated their homecoming game against Webb High School last Saturday night, easily beating the Gauls 24-6 at St. Francis High School. The win gives Flintridge Prep a 2-0 record in their league, but Skaggs believed that these games were just tune ups for what is going to happen in the next three weeks. ?We did some great things and we did some not-so-good things,? Skaggs said.

Last week, Flintridge Prep Head Coach Perry Skaggs shared the idea that his team had to face the last three games of the season with a can-do attitude, ?coming out and ready to play.? This thought came into play last Saturday as the Flintridge Prep Rebels did just that to upset the undefeated Chadwick Dolphins, 45-34. With a Prep League title on the line and classic rivalry unfolding on the field, the Flintridge Prep football team needed to be as close to perfect as possible. Friday night against Rio Hondo Prep, the Rebels may have waited more than a bit too long to bring their best game to the Kares. A furious comeback attempt kept Flintridge?s hope alive into the fourth quarter despite a hefty deficit, but with the clock against them, the Rebels could not avoid a 31-14 defeat. ?It lit a fire under us,?

New Flintridge Prep Head Coach Perry Skaggs summed up his intentions for the season to his Rebel team following their 10-0 victory last Saturday against the Malibu High School Sharks at Malibu: “This is how we are going to win. It might not be fancy, it might not be pretty, but you see that shutout on that scoreboard,” Skaggs shouted, “and that sums it up how we are going to win.” Skaggs certainly had a point....

Junior Pee Wees The La Cañada Junior Pee Wees fell to the Charter Oak Chargers 20-14 in a tough fought game at Wilson High School in El Sereno last Saturday morning. The Gladiators took the opening kickoff at their own 35-yard line and marched down field, the key plays being Phil Gandara's fourth down run of 19 yards on a fake punt and a 12 yard pass on third down from quarterback Daleep Sandu to wide receiver Chris Gilchrist. Then, on fourth down from the Charger 25-yard line, Sandu dropped back behind the blocking of Randel Mancilla, Joshua Lacey, Coleman Monroe, Johnny Cauble, Allen Dearman, Jason Potter and Matt Alegria, and found Gilchrist at the Charger one-yard line to set up a first and goal.
