Guess what? I'm another year older today. My, these birthdays just sneak up on a person when you're not looking. I must admit, however, I always like the way I feel when it is my "special" day because it is just that — special. I share this day with my twin sister, Elaine, who lives in Santa Barbara.

We were surprise May baskets for my mother and father, lo those many years ago. Nobody, not even the doctor, knew two babies would arrive that day. I came first and there was much joy on my arrival. Then, 15 minutes later, out popped my sister, to everyone's shock. Preparations had been made for only one baby so there was a mad scramble to gather all the additional necessities. We were only a little more than three pounds each when born and barely four pounds when we were taken home from the hospital. We were so tiny my mother said they carried us around on pillows.

Unlike today, twins were rare in those days. In fact, we were the only set of twins attending our grammar school. We were known simply as "the twins."

So much about my birthday — let's focus on what is going on about town.

Bobbie, Jerry and Brett Furrey staged their annual Easter extravaganza at their beautiful La Cañada Flintridge home on a recent Saturday. Their Easter party began small many years ago, however this year nearly 200 friends and neighbors turned out for the festivities.

"Everyone seemed to be having a great time and it was very fun to see them compete in sack races and seeing who could keep a Hula-Hoop going the longest," Bobbie Furrey told me.

There were many games to be played and lively conversations to share. Of course there was plenty to eat with the menu being delicious hamburgers prepared to perfection by the Pasadena famous Pie 'n Burger truck.

Once again the Furrey crew enjoyed their Easter tradition with family and friends.

Spring was in the air when the Stardusters and Alaroma dance groups joined forces for "April in Paris" dinner dance held at Annandale Golf Club.

Virginia and Michael Karsch, presidents of Stardusters, chose the theme of the evening. The pink-clothed dining tables boasted beautiful floral arrangements reflective of this season.

Barbara and Tony Phillips were chairs of the event. They were assisted by Marlene and Robert Evans, Stefi and Kent Kuster, Karen and Rob Kobus, Gigi and Jim Schlueter, Diane Kanner and Ron Weinstein.

Music was provided by BreakAway Band. Dancing to the great tunes were Polly and Brent Allen, Betty Bollier and Bob Newhoff. Grace and Dave Cashion, Liz and Bob Craven, Ginny and Bob Doyle, Margaret and Tom Dunn, Heather and Carl Emge, Gerri and Carson English, Sue and Barry Franzen, Judy and Kent Frewing, Janice and Ricardo Gallo, Mary and Daryal Gant, Robbie Green and Fred Vaquer, Marion and Paul Greene, Pat and Dennis Heatherington, Shirley and David Hickman.

More enjoying the evening were Susan and Jim Holland, Laurie Kovalenko and Mitchio Okumura, Jim Mramor and Edie Askew, Ginger and Ed O'Hara, Linda and Dennis O'Leary, Lillian and Roy Olofson, Frank Osmon and Joanne Stebenne, Cathy and Pete Palermo, Marilyn and Willis Petschow, Jeraldine Saunders and Jeffrey Kobes, Judy and Bob Snyder, Barbara and Jack Stocky, and Andrea and Bud White.
